Technical Program Manager
Do you enjoy bringing structure to complex technical projects, working closely with customers and making sure ambitious commitments turn into successful delivery?
Technical Program Manager
At Robotto, we build advanced autonomy and software solutions for drones and unmanned systems. Our work brings together computer vision, edge computing, software, electronics and real-world product development.
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive the successful delivery of our technical and customer projects, bringing together people, priorities and stakeholders to make sure commitments move from plan to execution.
This is a hands-on, cross-functional role for someone who understands complex technical environments and knows how to create clarity, keep momentum and bring people together around shared goals.
The role
As Technical Program Manager, you will play a central role in planning, coordinating and driving projects from initial requirements through execution and successful delivery.
You will sit at the intersection of engineering, customers, commercial teams and leadership. You will work closely with customers to understand requirements, manage expectations and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Internally, you will bring together the right people and resources around each project, ensuring responsibilities, priorities, timelines and dependencies are clear and that commitments are followed through.
You will work closely with our Principal Engineer on technical planning, engineering priorities and resource requirements, while taking ownership of project execution, stakeholder alignment and delivery.
You do not need to be the person writing the code every day, but you should have enough technical understanding to work confidently with engineers, understand dependencies and constraints, ask the right questions and translate effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What you will do
Take ownership of planning, coordinating and driving technical and customer projects from initiation through delivery.
Build and maintain clear project plans covering milestones, responsibilities, dependencies, resources, risks and delivery commitments.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and resources around project priorities, milestones and deliverables.
Create clear ownership and accountability across projects and ensure actions and commitments are followed through.
Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout project delivery, building strong relationships and maintaining clear and proactive communication.
Manage customer expectations around requirements, scope, timelines, progress and delivery.
Translate customer and commercial commitments into clear project requirements and actionable delivery plans.
Track project milestones, deliverables, acceptance criteria and relevant commercial or payment gates.
Identify project risks, bottlenecks and dependencies early and drive the right conversations and actions to resolve them.
Ensure changes in requirements, scope, timelines or priorities are communicated clearly across customers and internal stakeholders.
Bring together engineering, commercial teams, customers and leadership to resolve dependencies and keep delivery moving.
Facilitate project meetings and ensure decisions, actions, responsibilities and next steps are clear.
Work closely with the Principal Engineer to understand technical dependencies, resource requirements and realistic delivery timelines.
Provide leadership with clear visibility into project status, risks, resource constraints and upcoming commitments.
Help improve project-management processes, communication and ways of working as Robotto continues to grow.
Step into cross-functional challenges where ownership may not always be obvious and help bring the right people together to find a way forward.
Contribute to hiring, onboarding and building strong teams as the organisation scales.
What success could look like in your first 3–6 months
You have developed a strong understanding of Robotto's active projects, customers, technical environment, key milestones and delivery commitments.
Projects have clearer plans, ownership, priorities, timelines and dependencies.
Customers have strong visibility into project progress and confidence in how their projects are being managed.
Stakeholder communication across engineering, commercial teams, customers and leadership is clear and consistent.
Engineering teams have greater clarity around project priorities, requirements and delivery expectations.
Delivery risks, resource constraints and potential bottlenecks are identified earlier and addressed proactively.
Project meetings lead to clear decisions, actions and follow-through.
Leadership has better visibility into project progress, customer commitments and potential delivery risks.
You have helped strengthen how projects are planned, coordinated and delivered without introducing unnecessary processes or bureaucracy.
What we are looking for
You may come from technical project management, engineering delivery, programme management or another role where you have been responsible for delivering complex technical projects.
More importantly, you understand how technical projects move from requirements to real-world delivery and know how to bring customers, engineers and stakeholders together to make that happen.
Proven experience managing and delivering complex technical or engineering projects.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects involving software, electronics, robotics, autonomous systems, AI or similarly complex technologies.
Strong project-management skills, including planning, milestones, dependencies, resource coordination, risk management and delivery follow-up.
Experience working directly with customers and managing customer relationships and expectations throughout project delivery.
Strong stakeholder-management skills and experience working across engineering, commercial teams, leadership and external stakeholders.
Experience translating customer requirements and commitments into structured project plans and deliverables.
Strong enough technical understanding to work confidently with engineers and understand technical dependencies, constraints and trade-offs.
Experience managing multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
Experience with project-planning, delivery or project-management tools.
Experience from a startup, scale-up or similarly fast-changing technical environment is highly relevant.
Previous hands-on technical or engineering experience is an advantage.
Experience supporting hiring, team growth or improvements to ways of working is an advantage.
Professional fluency in English.
A degree in computer science, software engineering, electronics, robotics or another relevant technical discipline is preferred; equivalent practical experience is equally welcome.
Who you are
You are someone who naturally creates clarity when there are multiple people, priorities and moving parts involved.
You are comfortable taking ownership of delivery and bringing people together around shared priorities, responsibilities and commitments. You build trust with technical teams while also being confident working directly with customers, commercial colleagues and leadership.
You:
Take ownership and follow things through.
Keep projects moving and maintain momentum when priorities or circumstances change.
Build strong and trusted relationships with customers.
Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Know how to bring different people together and create alignment around what needs to happen next.
Are comfortable challenging timelines, requirements and expectations when necessary.
Identify risks early and communicate them before they become delivery problems.
Balance customer expectations with technical realities.
Bring structure and accountability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Are pragmatic and comfortable making decisions in an environment where not everything is predefined.
Enjoy solving problems and stepping into situations where someone needs to take ownership.
Care about both successful delivery and helping teams work better together.
Minds and makers forging ahead together.
At Robotto, we value people who do. People who take ownership, are willing to try new things just to see if they work, and are comfortable asking for forgiveness rather than permission.
We want people who are curious, proactive and excited about turning ambitious ideas into technology that works in the real world.
Our hiring process
Our process is designed to be straightforward, practical and conversational:
1. Introductory conversation with our Talent Acquisition & Recruitment Partner
A chance to learn more about Robotto, the role and what you are looking for, while giving us an opportunity to understand your background, experience and motivation.
2. Meeting with the Hiring Manager / Principal Engineer
A deeper conversation about your experience managing technical projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, working with customers and stakeholders, and driving projects through to delivery.
3. Case Discussion & Meeting with our COO
A practical discussion based on a project-delivery scenario relevant to the role. We are interested in how you approach planning, customer expectations, competing priorities, technical dependencies, delivery risks and stakeholder communication rather than looking for one specific answer.
Following the case discussion, you will meet with our COO for a conversation about the role, Robotto and mutual fit.
4. Offer
If there is a strong mutual fit, we will move forward with an offer.
Why join Robotto?
Robotto is building advanced autonomy technology for drones and unmanned systems, working at the intersection of software, hardware, computer vision and real-world operations.
You will join a highly technical and ambitious team at an exciting point in the company's journey. As we continue to scale and take on challenging technical and customer projects, strong project delivery and stakeholder coordination will play an increasingly important role in our growth.
This is not a role where everything is already defined. You will have the opportunity to bring structure where it is needed, improve how projects are delivered and help shape the way we work as the organisation grows.
You will work closely with engineers, customers, commercial teams and leadership and have visibility across the full journey from project requirements and planning through technical development and real-world delivery.
Most importantly, you will have meaningful ownership and the opportunity to see the projects you drive move from ambitious ideas and commitments into technology delivered in the real world.
